Excellence amidst nature

Open campus

Built to foster a true sense of community

The MUWCI campus is unlike any other UWC college in that it has a completely open layout with traditional Indian architecture elements such as Wadas, staggered steps, courtyards, and lotus ponds. The many buildings that comprise the main college were designed by the renowned award-winning architect Christoper Benninger, who wanted to create a village-like ambience. You are never fully indoors at MUWCI. Whether moving from one classroom to another, walking to the main hall, the cafeteria, the student residences, all spaces are built such that you never feel far from nature.

The idea was to create several spaces within and outside the classroom for students to interact with one another and other members of the community.

Rural setting

Our independent, rural setting builds a closeknit community on campus, while our close relationship with the neighbouring villages makes us part of the larger Mulshi community.

Campus facilities and events

Embrace new adventures every day

Our campus offers a wide range of facilities that enable students to pursue both their academic, recreational, and personal goals. From state-of-the-art academic buildings, sports facilities, swimming pool, games room, multi-purpose lawn, and ample outdoor sitouts that become vibrant social spaces, our infrastructure is designed to support a well-rounded student experience.

In addition to these facilities, we host a variety of dynamic events throughout the year that are largely organised and managed by MUWCI students under the guidance of experienced faculty members. Signature events like Theatre Season, MUWCIlympics, Triveni Mela, and the Art Exhibition provide students with opportunities to take the lead in planning, coordinating, and executing activities that showcase their talents and foster a strong sense of community. We also celebrate festivals and hold cultural and regional weeks, where students share and explore diverse traditions. Furthermore, our extensive range of outdoor and off-campus activities allows students to engage with nature and connect more deeply with communities outside the college. Join us at MUWCI, where every day brings new adventures and opportunities for growth, leadership, and learning.

Our Biodiversity and Conservation Park

In 2000, MUWCI’s campus had only one solitary mango tree, while the rest of the land was covered with grass and shrubs. Today, with the efforts of staff, faculty, and students who have planted over 10,000 trees, the campus is cloaked in greenery and is home to diverse flora and fauna on its 175 acres.

MUWCI is located in the Sahyadri Hills (Western Ghats), overlooking the Mulshi and Kolvan valleys. In 2012, UNESCO declared the Sahyadris Hills a biodiversity hotspot and world heritage site. It is recognised as one of the world’s eight “hottest hotspots” of biological diversity, with more than 325 globally threatened species, some of which can be found on our campus.

In 2006, we launched the Van Vihar Biodiversity Park & Reserve, which covers approximately 85% of our campus and includes walking trails through reforested habitats, medicinal plant gardens, water bodies and landscaped green areas.

It serves as a focus for reforestation and soil conservation efforts in the area. In addition, tree planting campaigns, watershed restoration projects, and fire risk mitigation (by our student-run Fire & Rescue Service) help restore and protect our ecosystems and provide employment opportunities for local residents.
