IB Diploma Programme

Creating a better world through education

Pursue academic excellence

Engage in a multi-disciplinary IB Programme

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme is a challenging and internationally renowned two-year pre-university programme for students aged 16 to 19. At MUWCI, the IB programme is extended well beyond its minimum requirements.

MUWCI’s geographical location, deliberately diverse environment, proximity to nature, and a carefully designed experiential learning programme, takes the IB curriculum to a much higher level.

You will constantly be challenged to think independently and critically engage with your academics and the world around you. You will learn to thrive in a supportive environment with peers and faculty members who will always push you to be ambitious and aim for the best, while cultivating a conscientious mind that cares about the world.

All students who successfully complete their education at MUWCI are awarded a separate MUWCI Diploma, which certifies that their participation and accomplishments align with the objectives of the college.

Subjects offered

You will select subjects to study from six subject groups

In the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), you choose six subjects to study each term. These are offered at the standard level, higher level, or both.

Additionally, you are expected to undertake independent research and submit a paper, under what is called the Extended Essay (EE). You will also complete a course in Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and participate in the Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) programme, which includes a variety of co-curricular activities.

Group 6 subjects are optional, which means you can choose an additional subject from Groups 1 to 5 instead of a Group 6 subject.

We highly encourage all students to take a Group 6 subject, as we believe that the arts allow students to develop an appreciation of aesthetics and that all disciplines — including engineering or economics — can use the lessons learned in an academic approach to art. These subjects will no doubt help you surpass the basic minimum requirements of your career and enrich your life.

Note: We review this section on subjects annually as per the teaching resources available at the college and students’ evolving needs.
