Student Safety & Wellness

Prioritising students' health and wellbeing

Supporting a balanced and healthy campus life

Our approach to personal, social, health and economic education

At Mahindra United World College of India (MUWCI), students live in a stimulating environment with a challenging curriculum, cultural diversity, and myriad opportunities.

We encourage our students to make new friends and steer personal growth while balancing academic requirements. Their personal, social, and emotional wellbeing is thus key to a valuable college experience.

Our preventive approach to mental health allows students to identify issues early on before they become overwhelming. There are multiple resources to help students cope with challenges, including student advisors, Wada Parents, on-campus Wellbeing Psychologists and the Head of Student Life. Our students can approach any — or all — of them for help.

Throughout the year, sessions will be offered to all students on matters around Social Emotional Learning to help them cultivate compassionate, respectful relationships with others and themselves.

Building a safe and secure learning environment

Ensuring all-round well being of our students our students is our highest priority.

Wellbeing Services

We have a full-time wellbeing psychologist on campus who is available for every student for confidential student consultations. Additionally, students can sign up for weekly group counselling sessions to learn stress reduction and health and wellness techniques. We also have two external psychologists they can talk to online.

ARDEI

Our commitment to ARDEI (Anti-Racism, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) goes beyond bringing diverse students together. We strive to ensure every student, regardless of their identity or background, feels valued and heard. The ARDEI Committee, comprising diverse members, works to make our efforts more representative, accessible, and transparent.

Faculty Advisors

Students are assigned a faculty advisor who will help them adjust to life on campus, both personally and academically. They will work together on many areas of life at MUWCI, from maintaining a work-life balance and developing healthy eating and sleeping habits to living harmoniously and building healthy relationships. Students and advisors regularly meet for one-on-ones.

Child Protection Officer

We have a robust mechanism in place to address greivances and prioritize student safety and wellness.

While UWC schools and colleges remain the first point of contact for safeguarding concerns and reports, UWC International also provides reporting mechanisms for anyone within the UWC community. Information on UWC International’s Safeguarding policies and independent reporting mechanisms (online platform, phone) are available here.

For reporting of all incidents of Discrimination and Harassment (for individuals above 18 years of age), including Sexual Harassment has to be made to the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), preferably, within a period of 3 (three) months from the date of such incident. Information about the ICC and members of other committees on campus is available here.

Individuals who have concerns or reports on safeguarding related matters should email [email protected] or approach our Designated Safeguarding Leads:

Reflections & self-evaluation

Students are encouraged to reflect on their growth and performance regularly.

Self-evaluation of their MUWCI journey will help them understand where they might need assistance and how to make the most of their time on campus.

We encourage students to engage in physical activity daily (go for a walk, run up the Ghat road, do yoga or swim) while also taking time to reflect (meditate, keep a journal or write a blog). At night, it’s important to take the time to wind down and sleep with a calm mind. These practices will set our students up for success, not only on campus but also in their personal and professional lives.
