An IB School like no other
Unique educational programs for 16-18 year olds
IB Diploma Programme
Founded in 1968, the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is a challenging and internationally renowned two-year pre-university programme for students aged 16 to 19. It provides students with the tools to think independently and critically engage with their academics and the world around them, creating a better world through education.
Summer Programmes
Every year, young students from around the world enrol in our Summer Programmes to tackle important issues such as social justice, sustainability, identity, and more in a first-hand UWC experience. Our Summer Programmes started in 2009 with a mission to give the UWC experience to a broader audience.
Currently Seeking: exceptional young people of promise!
At MUWCI, we aim to empower students from various cultural, ethnic, linguistic, national, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds to drive positive change for peace and sustainability in their expanding spheres of influence. Our educational model is built around the five C-competencies: curiosity, critical thinking, creativity, courage, and compassion.
A UWC education is only the right match for some students. Therefore, we are careful to admit students who demonstrate the ability to thrive in our unique and often-challenging environment. While it is difficult to describe an ideal candidate, there are a few common traits that we look for.
While we value strong academic achievement, we broadly consider the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that define our students as whole people. Our students are committed to positive social action and want to contribute to a more equitable, inclusive, and sustainable world. Thus, they are deeply engaged with the complex problems of our time, show genuine curiosity and empathy as they consider diverse perspectives, and practice adapting to new circumstances with resilience. Initially, many MUWCI students find it challenging to realize that they are one of many capable, driven, and talented people on campus, especially if they are used to excelling among their class and schoolmates. However, the humility required to appreciate this as a unique resource usually quickly paves the way for innovative collaborations across diverse backgrounds and subject areas.
Our candidates are not expected to have mastered all the skills needed to be changemakers before they prepare their applications. Instead, we are looking for optimistic adults who want to live in a multicultural learning community and demonstrate the necessary maturity to grow in a challenging yet transformative environment.
Most importantly, when selecting students based on merit and potential, we look at each student’s context and whether they have made the most of the opportunities available to them.
